AGMA Accuses Miami City Ballet Of Union-Busting Campaign

Miami City Ballet management has begun an aggressive, coordinated union-busting campaign against their dancers, the majority of whom are fighting to unionize. Unsurprisingly, the Company’s union-busting campaign includes the usual condescending communications filled with misinformation, and soon, they will hold their first captive audience meeting (more on that VERY soon).

Furthermore, MCB management is trying to circumvent the legal process by denying their dancers the right to a union election. Rather than allowing a straightforward National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) election, affording the Dancers the opportunity to freely express their choice, management is trying to use the legal system to prevent their dancers from having a chance to vote at all on whether they want to form a union or not. Thus, they are employing a dual strategy: coercive tactics to influence a ‘no’ vote and contriving a scenario where their dancers’ voices go unheard altogether.

An NLRB hearing will be held in the coming days to address bogus legal issues raised by Miami City Ballet management. We maintain confidence in our position and anticipate that a fair election will be mandated, granting the Dancers the right to determine the outcome.

AGMA will be sure to keep everyone updated on this matter. In the meantime, the Company’s union-busting campaign continues, and the Dancers of MCB who want and deserve the right to an election would appreciate and feel encouraged by your support.
